Its that time of year again, whats the best additive I could use to keep emissions down for the test?

When I lived in Palm Beach County, FL I used to have to have mine inspected and would always fail the first time. I would change the air filter (before I installed a K&N), get the oil changed (not that it helped, I just thought it would be a good time) and then it would pass.
It always made me nervous when they put that thing on the machine and drive it at 55MPH and used a 4 inch block "just in case" it came off, the block would keep it from going through the wall /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Here in Sweden we use the boose that´s for gasoline so it wont freeze in the winter /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yes, it is a sniffer test. They put my truck on what looks like a dyno machine with the big steel drums under the rear tires and hook up a hose to both exhaust pipes. Then they run it a different speeds for a few minutes.

I don't know if it would help a diesel but changing the oil will reduce the amount of HC (hydro carbons) in an emissions test.

Use the stanadyne fuel additive, and the marvel mystery oil helps too.
By the way the diesel smog tester is Called the smoke tester. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
And yes they test mainly for particles in the exhaust.
Luckily here in CA we don't have to worry about smogging diesels.
When I was in the middle east they smogged the diesel twice a year, and the gasoline engines every year.

That would get expensive, here it costs $50 for the test.
