So I have a 87 sub that I may swap a crew cab onto and don't mind stretching the wheel base a little to push the rear axle back a way from the cab since there is room between the axle and fuel tank. I would like to do this first before I swap a blazer tank in and trim the frame rails or just run the suburban tank.

Is their any advantage of reversed 56" suburban springs? or does this just benefit a blazer with stock 52" rear springs.

Wont this push the rear axle back 3-4"?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

the moron that lifted my burb, and in the process, managed to use all the wrong bolts in the springs, and never put shocks on, has the springs in backwards, i don't think it increased the wheelbase any... if it had, at 6", i'm fairly certain the driveshaft would have had to been lengthened, and it wasn't

the springs are + 4" longer on the back side.

only major down fall i see is possible more spring wrap and require anti wrap bar if to much.

it is a good way to get the longer w.b. but keep a short frame.

so help me here, why does my rear wheel seem centered still? shouldn't the stock driveshaft be too short?

i thought all subs were 56". unless there's a difference between 1/2 and 3/4 subs...

No. Spring lengths were different. 52" or 56"

So has anyone reversed 56" springs on a suburban?

Really seems like this would be a good cheap Mod. Its seems like axle wrap you could deal with because of the heavier spring rate or just add a bar.

just be aware of the wheel opening being off center, and the tub may rub depending on how big a tire you use. Shock mounting will be off too!

If I swap a crew cab on it wont be a problem. If I keep the suburban body I may have to trim a little sheet metal.

I cant beleive no one has done this before?

when you do a shackleflip, the axle gets shoved forward a little. so a shackle flip combined with 56"s backwards is more like 2" back instead of 4". thats what i did on my k5.

Shackle flip with reversed 56" springs sounds like the ticket!

Thanks
