Hey guys, I have had this truck a couple years now and I think I have enough done to put a build thread together. There is no ground breaking tech or fabrication here, I like to keep things pretty simple...

The day I brought it home. Bought it from an old man who had done a ton of cosmetic stuff to it. Cheap paint job, all new weather stripping, all new chrome outside and a lot of new interior parts.

Specs were 383 with a solid lifter cam, th350 and 203 that I did a part time kit right way. I also painted the wheels and put a tool box in it the first day.

From there I did a few little things and enjoyed it. The tires were pretty dry rotted and during a cold snap I lost two in one day. I scored a set of brand new Pro Comp Extreme M/T's (33's) off CL for $500 :waytogo:

I actually only drove it less than 50 miles before I decided to throw a 4 Rough Country lift on. There wasn't a lot of tech involved so I didn't take any pictures of the install. The original idea for truck was to have a classic resto-mod style truck to use a town rig and what not. The direction changes as you will see eventually. The lift had blocks and cheap shocks, and rode like a brick but it kept the tires out of the fenders.

I towed with it a little bit and it made me miss not having a diesel but it got the job done..

Then it came time for the major mod on the truck. I'd been looking into a cam swap to get rid of the solid lifter cam. It was making some bad valve train noise I wanted a hydraulic flat tappet cam. Well I pulled the motor to find out the cam was going flat....

The good news was that it was an older crate motor a 4 bolt main 30 over S010 block.

The tear down.....

After a couple weeks of building a motor in my head I started ordering parts :D I went with a Eagle forged 383 bottom end kit with .40 over speed pro -12cc invert dome pistons (10.1) I wanted a stump puller that would be daily driver friendly and run on pump gas so I went with 72cc chamber Summit Racing 2.02 heads. that dropped my final compression ratio to 9.2.1 . Used a Lunati Voodoo cam and lifters ( cam 213*/219* duration .454*/.468* lift, 100 to 5500 rpm range) and a bunch of summit racing parts like roller tip rocker arms, push rods, fuel pump ect...

Now came time for the actual build. I am a little OCD about my vehicles and might of gotten a little carried away on the color scheme, but Ithink it cam out looking tits

and more.... I cleaned up the engine bay and rattle canned it with gloss engine enamel. The motor runs great and I currently have about 3000 miles in it. The only issue to date was a bad holley 670 carb out of the box. I swapped it for a Edelbrock Performer 600 and it works great. Also the torque converter in my th350 is not the right stall for my cam. I have a built 700R4 with a B&M torkmaster 2000 stall converter and a twin stick 205 going in later this winter:D

Other than that I would love to upgrade to a FAST fuel injection set up eventually but right now the truck runs great so its not priority, plus I'm a fan of keeping things simple...

Since the day I had brought the truck home I had been in search of a classic Warn bumper for it. After about six months with no luck I was about to brake down and order a remake from GM Truck Center when I came across one with a Warn 8270 winch. I drove 3 three hours to pic it up, it was in rough shape so I cleaned it up and rebuilt the winch.

I also platted the frame where the bumper mounts and added a cross member to tie it into so I could winch with confidence

Then I moved on to the winch, turns out it was in good operating condition so just cleaned it up and put a new 5/16'' 150ft cable on it

Its a this point that I had sold my Toyota crawler and bought a new tow rig. 2002 LB7 Duramax with 100k on it, bought it from an old man and had never towed a trailer! After a month of dialing in my tow rig and throwing a lot of go fast parts on it that I decided what direction I would go with the K10.

I didn't need it to be a town rig anymore and I didn't have a dedicated wheeler anymore. The truck is way to nice to cut or smash up so I'm going to do a lot of tasteful mods to make a nice trail rig. I live in the Sierras and there are a ton of fullsize friendly trails and places to explore out here. I'm not wasting my $ on one tons because I only plan on running 35's.

New truck.....:pimp:
