If it's not, maybe he should be on a Saturn forum.... If they have those....

:doah: Nice to see I'm welcome around here. :haha:

Hahaha Saturn forum?! That's funny crap.

Now you made me look....

&

I could only imagine what they talk about.

"Hey guys! look at my new plastic doors!"

Come to think of it, that's pretty much what we talk about around here. Most of us would prefer metal doors to plastic or fiberglass, but I'd bet the conversations aren't that different.

I'll bet you're much more likely to run into a hypermiler over there, though. :haha:

It was nice knowing you...@campfire

Ouch. I didn't realize I could get kicked out of CK5 for the cardinal sin of owning a daily driver. :eek1:

I kinda thought that most CK5 members had daily drivers that they drove more often than their projects. There's even a thread about them somewhere.

I will repeat my previous statement that the fuel savings from the little car is directly paying for the K5 build. So for this season of life, it's fitting the need quite well, and CK5 is getting more tech out me than they ever have.

I think he was implying that there is a Saturn Forum, and that it is more appealing to you then CK5.

Correct.

Fwiw, I saw somewhere in a thread you were posting some photos of a cylinder head replacement??? Honestly I skipped over the whole series of posts once I saw the lack of 8 cylinders.
No joke.
I still have no clue what you were doing.
But looked liked prime material for Saturnfans.com

@Saturnfire
Fuel mileage is out there!

Yeah, I do other (non-truck) things quite a bit. And they usually don't end up on here. This year I'm rebuilding a house, but this isn't a house fixing club.

I did do a head job recently, and it was on a Saturn. I don't know whether it would be good material for a Saturn site, but I'm pretty sure that such a routine procedure would be boring. It's kinda exotic on here since nearly nobody writes about 4-bangers, but aside from that it's just general maintenance (not surprised that ya skipped over it). I don't have any special fab work on the DD, so there's really nothing to write about.

The trucks are different. I have not put a whole lot of hours into them since joining CK5 (for various reasons), but most of what I do with them is custom. It's pretty mild compared to a lot of CK5 builds, but that's because I'm fairly new to this still. It's still stuff that you couldn't get from the factory, and (most of the time) I think my mods are improvements. When you look at my rig, you may not like what you see, but you will see non-GM stuff on there. And as I'm slowly getting better with them, the mods are getting more daring. This truck was slated for a 5-speed swap until some timid people talked me out of it (and it got the 700R4 rebuild instead). A few years later, I'm now doing what I wanted to do back then. And this site is a piece of that. Both the technical knowledge and the inspiration.

That's why I hang out here. To glean ideas and to share ideas. Some are great, some aren't. But the hobby is a lot more fun when the ideas are flowing. So far I haven't seen any great Saturn mod ideas. They pretty much do their intended purpose without a huge amount of room for improvement. I'm not sure what you'd talk about in a Saturn forum. :dunno:

I do have a cool idea for building a DD platform that won't be as lame as the "normal" car, but I'll need more of a shop to pull it off. :pimp: :thumb:

And even then, it won't really be all that interesting to the K5 club.

This is funny! :haha: :rotfl:

I like to measure and monitor things. Inches of travel, gear ratios, cruising RPM ranges, etc.

I'm sure you'll believe me when I say there's not much to measure on a Saturn. Except the fuel mileage. I will say this, if you're looking for mileage, they're great cars. But for the purposes that people talk about on here, they don't really do much. :haha:

Fuel mileage < Adventure. :deal:

(though "Saturnfire" does have an interesting ring to it.)

:haha:

I ask due to your lengthy responses. Your the type of guy that you ask for the time and get a 5 hour symposium on how a clock works.

fwiw one Saturn car worth talking about is the Saturn sky redline.

Complete badass little car. To bad right at the time gm was getting the cars right, the front office was getting bailed out and the car( along with the Saturn brand) was killed.

These things are cool because they were built with intent for a v8. That's right folks, gm was planning on putting an LS in one of these. In fact they did drop an LS7 in one I believe.
