I am buying a stock rebuilt tranny for $550 from a shop here in Tempe. They recommend a shift kit for an additional $150. It is a transgo kit with corrective springs and a little drilling in the accumulator piston(?), something about separator plates, and I think a new servo. Is it worth it?

Can I install this kit or is it pretty involved?

Please let me know your advice, they are going to build it soon so I need to make a decision!

I seriously doubt that price gets you a heavy duty servo. Which Trans-go kit are they going to install? My bet is the JR. You could install it, It isn't too hard, Just need to be clean, & careful. It makes sense to let them do it since they are already there. On the flip side it could be a cool thing to do yourself at the first service interval.

I am not selling parts. But here is the Retail Pricing for Trans-Go kits:

SHift Kit = 147.00
Reprogramming Kit = $225.00
JR. Kit = $81.74

Servo Retail Pricing:
Sonnax 2nd Gear Super Hold = $224
Sonnax 4th Gear Super Hold = $214
Corvette Servo Set = $50.00
4L70 (middle of the road for shift feel) = $70

I looked at the transgo site, and the jr kit doesn't come with those separator plates...so I am guessing it's the other one...
