Found this on the B pillar on the passenger side. driver side was pitted but nowhere as bad as the passenger - although I think the A pillar will be a bad one... 1 thing at a time.

Was thinking about cutting horizontally across that top panel and either peeling back or removing altogether to see how much metal is rotted. Not sure how much is overlap is supposed to be there. Also, what gauge of sheetmetal is that supposed to be?

And that's not the only rust I've had to repair on this, so anyone that says Arizona doesn't have rust..... yeah..

I have the same rust spots and im in California lol. I think those rain rails routed water down there. Cutting out as much as you can is really the best way as you mentioned. Not sure on the gauge thickness but matching it will make it easier to replace. Id measure what you cut out and probably order it off mcmaster carr.

I just replaced some pieces of my rear quarter/wheelwell, I used 20 gauge sheetmetal. I would think the b pillar is a little stouter than the rear quarter so it may be 18 gauge.

Yeah, I replaced some rust in the rear quarter already, and it is a little bit thinner.

Thought I'd update this for future reference. I cut that pillar up and found that the piece of the drip rail is 16ga and the pillar itself it 18ga.
