I have a potential trade opportunity. My 2006 Pontiac Montana 118000 miles KBB For $5300. No rust, great shape. Runs excellent. For his 1996 GMC Suburban 2500, with 454 and 125,000. KBB for $4,000. Needs a tune up and has an erg code. No rust, leather and all options. Interior is good paint is good.

So the trade is my van for his burb plus $750.

Anything about that year 454 to worry about?

We don't use the van very often and the avalanche (5.3) is a little lite to pull the camper. Plus we could camp in the burb when we trailer the buggy.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Bruiser

The numbers don't look bad if the suburban issues were fixed first. There needs to be more cash added if he isn't willing to fix it first.

See if he'll budge a little on price. If those are the only issues, they are cheap and relatively easy to fix. Just beware that "needs a tuneup" can potentially mean that it has a more serious problem. I'm always wary of vehicles that are sold with such problems, because they are so easy to fix, most people do to sell the vehicle faster. A lot of times it just means some other issue that the owner has gotten tired of messing with.

Thanks everyone, but the deal fell thru. He said he drove it last night and something's wrong in the transmission. Oh well

if it shifts hard and won't go into overdrive, it's most likely a throttle position sensor. if so, you might be able to get a smokin' deal

... bad trans could make a really good deal if he dosent want to mess with it. What part if Indiana is it?

His brother was going to look at it. He's a transmission tech. He's around Indianapolis.
