I agree that that stuff sucks.
I am lucky to work somewhere with a long history and a desire to keep a good reputation. If I end up with your keys in order to do an appraisal you get them right back. I have customers walk around their car with me and ride with me if I drive their car.
Keeping your keys is an act of desperation and just wrong. Closers are stupid. We don't have one. If I didn't show you the right vehicle and present you with a deal that you are happy with then why bother bringing in someone else.
When I bought my truck I dealt with the typical crap too. Being left in one office after another. for what? to be told "I have to talk to my manager". It's all BS.
Find a place that treats you right and buy a car/truck from them. If you buy from the place that treats you bad because they beat everyones deal you deserve to be treated bad.
Service costs money. Nothing made me appreciate good service more then selling cars. I tip bigger, say thank you more, and send letters of appreciation to managers. I go to work everyday to have customers hate me and think I'm scum. Because I am a GMC man. I love the brand and believe in it. Customers can tell.
I'm not going to stand next to you while we both stare at the truck. I'm going to give you information that will help you decide. It will be biased info. I'm gonna tell you how this feature or that is better then what Ford/Dodge/Nissan/Toyota offer. Same as watching a tv commercial.
If price is all that matters then you will always end up with the cheapest product/service.

Before I sold trucks I was driving them. I have things in common with the customers and understand how they are using the truck.
I sat there in front of the guy and did long division the old fashioned way. lol!
