So yesterday I get home in time to hunt for an hour or two. A cold front moved in the night before and dropped the temp by 30 plus degrees so I figured is was a good time to hunt. So I climb up in my tree and sat down. It was right at 50 degrees with a 15 to 20 mph north wind blowing right into my face and all I am wearing is a cotton long sleave, my 6 pocket pants, a pair of gloves, and a mesh face mask. At times the gust would jump up to about 40 and would start whipping the basket ball size oaks around like thin bamboo poles, AND I WAS SITTING IN ONE! I never did see anything but it was a totally cool hunt. Funny thing is the only thing that got cold was my fingers and they were in some thicker gloves.

I think the entire area that I am currently hunting has been ruined though. THe guy that I got permission from to last year to hunt called me the week before bow season opened and told me he has some people going to start hunting it too. Ok, fine with me. I'm pretty sure they scared everything off though. I had a camera up before they started setting their stuff up and I had like 25 pics in a week. They have been driving through so much though that the grass is wore down to make a road already. They are putting up a camper right in the middle of the 35 acres and hunting less than a hundred yards from it. I am completely fine with hunting with people, the more the merrier. I just hate not being able to take part in what is put where and when.

Like I said though, excellent hunt.

I think this little cool spell we've had has the deer moving. I've seen some every day driving to work this week between Denton and Argyle. Saturday morning ought to be good if the wind stays down.

I am still trying to decide on if I am going to hunt Saturday or not. My delima is this. My wife was called by her Uncle yesterady wanting me to work. The deal is I get paid mega $$$ AND get fed for lunch. Christmas is getting close!!!

I will probably go check the camera after dark tonight and pull the sd card to see if anything started showing up again. The other thing is the moon was HUGE last night and this morning. With the guys coming in they have probably went ahead and turned nocturnal. I walked outside last night about 11 and could see all the way across a 300 yd field lke it was already grey light...

Lotsa $$$, do some hunting...???

tough one. Having the wife and kids at home myself, I'd probably say take the work. Deer season will be here through January.

Your right it is a tough one. I've never shot anything during October anyway. All Novermber and one in December. I'm trying to fill the freezer with a couple of does though. You gotta get'em early.

The past 4 years I've killed my buck within the last 2 weeks of the season. Generally huntin pressure has died off, plus there's less forage to eat, so they're spending more time at the feeder and in the wheat field.

up until now I have hunted in Grayson County. Bow Only. I carried a 30-30 the last week of last year but saw nothing.

We'll see!:D

Yea, killed 7 hours working for the Big Money. Haven't got the check yet but probably worth it. Should be able to go Saturday morn. I'll let you know.
