Affordable Tube Bender.

most people criticize them because of the large radius (7") with a 1 3/4" die. And it can only do 90* (some people say they cant even get 90). However, i am planning on getting one and ive seen guys do full cages and bumpers with them. For the price you cant beat it, and if you just plan out your design i think you can work with it...my opinion...

Just buy used. there are TONS of good benders for sale out there.

I have used one like that before, with a little creativity they work very well, and could do most anything you need them to do.

I would have no problem building a cage bumpers whatever with one of those

Got a link?

Most any 4x4 site with a classified forum has them for sale all the time. Pirate4x4 is one of them. OFN is another, but there are tons of off road sites and race car sited where guys use them, then decide to sell them. Race Desert.com is one too.

I am currently building one of these.

Plans available from Gottrikes.com

i have plans for one of those as well, but it was gonna end up being like 500-600 bucks, the dies are freakin expensive...

I will be trying to machine those as well. My guess will be mid to late spring before I attempt them though.

ive heard of guys doing that, and i have access to a cnc machine and could probably do it as well, but after the cost of the materials and my time, i would be over 300 bucks. so i think im going to go with the affordable bender as well

I have that Gottrikes.com bender and I used rem yard steel. Ended up costing me less than $50 in steel.

Check out www.probender.com too. I have one and I'm really happy with it.

As far as machining your own dies for less than what you can buy them for... as a machinist myself all I can say is good luck.

Some stuff (tools) are worth saving up and spending the money on. Cheap tube is $45-50 a stick so worrying about a couple hundred bucks on the bender itself is kinda odd when you figure how many sticks you'll be running through it.
Or if you won't be running that many sticks through it find a buddy with a bender or just pay someone to do it if you're getting into it for just one project.

Yes i agree with what you are saying. If i knew i was going to be doing tons of bending i would get a jd sqaured bender or something comparable.

In my situation, im going to be using it for a few projects but nothing serious. It justifies buying a bender, but i dont need something thats perfect, i can work with what i have.

Im not a machinist and dont have any that owe me any favors, so making my own dyes is out of the question.

A pro tools or jd squared with options would be in the $700+ range.
Shipped the Affordable bender with 1.5" and 1.75" dyes was $435
It only bends up to 90 degrees but should be good for most of what I need it for

A little more once you do the hydro conversion to it.
