a long lost friend just posted a different shot of my crashed Cuda from when i was 19....

so cool, as i don't have this shot....

really shows how bent the car got.... 6 inch gap from door to qrter on the opposite side, ripped the striker right out... broke the trans in 1/2.... middle ps hanging off one side of the flatbed, front and back of ds off the other...

wow...

here's the only shot i had.... the telephone tag #'s got imprinted in the sheetmetal..... :eek1:

wish i could have built that one...

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that most people don’t survive a crash like that. :eek1:
But it is funny that the pole’s tag number was imprinted on the door. :haha:

Glad you're able to be here and talk about it.

I did the same thing when I was 16. It was a 1969 Chevelle. Spun and hit a telephone pole on drivers door. It wasn't as severe as your Cuda but it was still one heck of a ride.

yup... walked away with 2 stitches in the head.. my gf got a sprained ankle... lost it in the rain changing lanes on rt 22 coming home from Newark airport picking her up.. doing about 60, 65....

welcome home dear! :doah:

the funny part in my brain was.. rescue shows up, they get my girl out, and I'm stuck between the door and center console, dudes are like "we're gonna grab the jaws", they leave, and I'm thinking "f*ck that" and wiggled my way out.... :haha:

Dam lucky Paul!
Had a buddy that had a 71 Challenger, man I love that era of Mopar.

That was a close call Ryoken!....that ain't gonna buff out..:(

A shame that car ended up totaled--but you survived, and that is what is most important..

They say all those muscle cars and vehicles in general back then were "unsafe" compared to todays standards..many mad metal dashes,no air bags, collapsible steering colums,no anti-lock brakes, and seat belts were a fairly new item, hardly anyone wore them--yet somehow most of us managed to survive riding in and driving those old cars & trucks..

Now today's cars have air bags that can kill people instead of saving their lives as intended..:screwy:...sometimes I wonder if we were better off in a 60's or 70's 2+ ton vehicle instead of the miniature go carts we now drive around in..

Seen them guys on graveyard cars fixing things like that or worse. Wonder what it costs sometimes for them to do that? Just glad you are still here!

I'll take any other car from 2018 Bob :D
That was a nasty hit Paul, I'll bet a lot of those cars bit the dust the same way. (even on dry pavement)

the other irony to that story is probably the reason the accident happened was I had just bought a new set of N50-15's for it.. that where sitting in the garage waiting to go on the next day..

well, i spent that whole day doing burnouts everywhere, the backs where skins.... i wasn't supposed to go pick her up, but at the last minute i had to... if i had known, i would have put the fresh rubber on that day, and it probably never would have happened...

I think if the pole had T-boned you = not here today
At least you saw it coming. Not sure how you escaped with a straight left arm and ribs though.

Yikes!

I have a guy back home that will pull that thing back to original not replacing a single panel for $3k. Then sends it for paint.

the pole did snap right off at the base.. iirc, they tried to send me a bill for it... if it was tree, it would have been over...
