need some help please...

I am not going to use the a/c in my 84 k-5 so I cut the box and all the a/c stuff out...

I have seen several pictures of aftermarket boxes that replace the stock (cut out) one...

anybody have any ideas where i can find one..

thanks in advance...

Stock style, or aftermarket?

Summit/jegs sell aftermarket heater kits. Kinda gotta get creative to keep your defrost vents though.

Is this the box that covers the heater core and the blower motor mounts onto???

picture is worth a 1,000 words

here is a picture cause sometimes i dont do a good job of explaining my self.

I began to fabricate a cover for the opening but saw what appeared to be a pre manufcaturered cover to fit over the entire area with the blower motor being mounted to the cover, that looked really good...better than I can do

Try ACdelete.com they are a little to proud of there product for my liking. You can get a non AC box from a donor rig but you will also need the inner box for the heater core, and fab a cover for the fire wall with new holes for the nipples from heater core. or you can get another ac box from a donor rig and try to re-fab it. I see the direction you were going with yours, if you cut the ac box flat it is easy to make a cover for it. You can see what i did with mine in my photo album, i sealed it up good from the inside with industrial caulking. Works good and doesn't stick out to far. Hope this helps, also do a search i have seen quite a few different versions of home fabbed ones.

perfect thanks for the reply...

for those who have done this did you have to still use your a.c. blower relay/resistor???

I have the blower hooked up just using the heater resistor, and the wire hooked to the fan. oh I also had to add a ground wire to the fan because of the plastc box..

but the fan only works on high and only when the selector is moved to the ac selection or the defrost but not the heat...so i am thinking since i am using the heater/ac selector that came with the truck, i need to wire it the same to get everything to work right??

is that correct??

I re-used every part and piece that had a factory wire connection going to it. And it works great, just hook it up like it was factory.

Thanks so much that is what I figured...they are proud but I think it is worth the aggravation factor...

removed the inner fender tonight...will order the cover next week...thanks again
