So there is this girl and her mom needs a fuel pump on her 2000 s10..

I offered up my serviced if her daughter would hang out and be hand me tools. "very cute daughter 22yrs old:D"

Well she called me up and offered dinner and said she would throw the daughter in if I could impress her by doing a good job:haha:

so dealer pump, and sell her on the fact that it will last if she plans on keeping the vehicle.

or cheaper pump from the parts store based on cost savings?

Well, if you put the cheapie pump on and it goes out then she can come over and watch you do it again........for free. Use an AC Delco pump, you don't have to go to the dealer to get it either. Buy it from an AC Delco parts house.

X2, and they are not that much more.

Tri-city, or factory motor parts should both be able to get you an acdelco pump.

Yeh I put a cheap parts store one in one of my tanks. Thing is loud as a mofo wish I would have forked out the extra $$ for the ac-delco one.

Are you planning on replacing just pump, or the whole pump/sender assembly? I've installed several of the assemblies from NAPA in customer's vehicles and have yet to have one fail *crosses fingers*. I think they were Delphi fuel pumps, IIRC.

i like to replace the whole assembly when I do them, my trucks have never lived loing enough for me to see if the ones from auto zone are junk or not:haha:

I have nothing to add other than how in the heck do you always get into these magical only real in dream situations?!?
Pics!!!

alright, Ill try to swindle a pic,

can you hand me that screw driver..wait..pose..snap..I missed it..again..oh your eyes where closed..one more..ah..we can do better than that..

:haha:

Extra points for suggestive uses of hand tools...

www.Rock-Auto.com carries ACDelco stuff if you have the time to wait for shipping.

Give her the freepump.......It will only last a little bit but its freeeee....

If you have a difficult tank drop, then get the highest reliability pump you can (i.e. AC Delco / Delphi). If it is an easy pump to change, then a pump with a lifetime warranty might make the most sense.

If it's a pickup, I find that is easier to jack the bed up off the frame on the one side.

What he said ^^^. Standard S-10 pump change procedure is to unbolt the bed and jack the tank side up to give access to the in tank assembly. No need to remove the tank - and you wouldn't want to try.

BTW Shawn, when (not if) the heater core takes a dump in that S-10, do NOT offer to fix it. It's a serious PITA. Ask me how I know :doah:

Dropping the tank is NOT that big of a deal, did one on a guys truck in the parking lot of an Autozone once in a couple hours, and BTW, Autozone DOES sell the AC Delco pumps, WITH lifetime warranty.

its an suv s-10

Ive changed enough fuel pumps, I just had always bought one because I needed to deal with it asap.

Ill shoot for a delphi or delco pump

Lift the bed and you can do it in less than 1/2 that time :deal:

It's a moot point since it is an S10 Blazer that Shawn is working on. I've never dropped a tank on an S Blazer - hopefully it is as easy as out K5's...
