I'm getting some pretty noisy afterburn when going down the hill slooowly in 2nd, but if I give it a little gas it goes away but then I have to use the brakes to slow down. When I'm saying slow I'm saying 20MPH max...

I think it might have to do with my carb.. still having issues getting it to idle right(idle is too high, but if I adjust it down any more it is hard to start for some reason). Carb is a 850 CFM Edelbrock on a Chevy 305, and I think that's the majority of the problem right there.... No cats and dual exhaust so I hear it quite well. :eek1:

I could be doing something wrong too, not sure. Still getting used to driving a stick..

850 CFM on a 305, is a lot of carb for that motor. I have seen guys running 383's with 750's. I can imagine that your idle would be really high and if you went down it would be a real pain to start since it would tend to flood. I would be looking for a 600 CFM to run on that engine, and even that may be a little too much, but should be a lot closer to what you would need.

X2.....Your carb is WAY to big for that motor.

Well I guess we've got the problem then, thanks!

I'll be looking for a q-jet to rebuild it looks like... not sure why the previous owner decided he had to have this one in :doah:
