On my 1990 gmc jimmy I am looking to upgrade the diff covers would be nice to have a drain plug. I see yukon only makes a rear and having issues if anyone makes a nice front cover.

Anyone running a aftermarket cover? If so which ones ?

Which size axles?
Your choices improve once you get to 1 tons

Great Lakes Offroad Extreme is one, you may need to add a drain

Mine are ruff stuff specialities, no drain plug but they are plenty beefy enough to add one….60 front, 14bff rear

why is it only for a rear? 1990 should have 10 bolts front and rear. https://www.yukongear.com/shop/yhcc-gm85-s in the application chart says fits front and rear

Square 10Bolt front covers are a little different on the upper right side for some reason where as the rear applications are more evenly rounded all the way around.
Don’t know why GM did that ?
Maybe for a little more oil pan clearance on full spring compression ?

I contacted Yukon and they said that’s for the rear only
Don’t worry about the diff cover with a drain plug in it - in order to get all the old oil out on a 10Bolt ya need to remove the cover and wipe the bottom of the chunk out to get it clean and a drain plug on the cover won’t get the job done.
Those two options that @fourwheelerjeff just posted up are really good choices - especially the thick steel version if you’re going for something heavy duty.
