My roommate owns a 6.5, and we have a terrible time getting it started in the cold, just replaced 5 of the glow plugs (other three are a whore to get at), and it still doesn't fire when left sitting overnight.

I'm going to get him to run a little lighter oil to ease cranking, but one other thing I thought of is the possibility of a grid heater. It seems to me that adding one would help more than just about any other mod. However, the D-max and Cummins grids would be near impossible to package in the space available.

Does anybody make like a tubular aftermarket grid heater? I haven't had any luck searching for one.

Yeah, those look WAY outta the price range. The problem is that our apartment complex has 1 outlet between 6 seperate buildings.

I guess I'll see if I can pick up a Cummins grid cheap. They aren't horribly thick, but there's not a lot of space to make a new intake for this motor. It'd have to be placed upstream of the turbo which I'm not thrilled about, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.
