aftermarket guages/factory dash

Why 2 tachs?

Btw, one of the nicer stock dash/autometer setups I've seen... Nice to see someone go for angle correction.. are the speedo and tach angled too, or just the small ones?

:thumb: The tach in the dash does not work. I had it laying around and stuck it in there just to fill the hole. Yes the speedo and nonfunctioning tach are agle too. I found come black plastic pipe at lowes and cut angle it until it was a slip fit. Then epoxied them int the dash. Now the gauges just slid in and out of the "angle ring" without being permanantly mounted. Thanks for the compliment. I spent a lot of time on it.

I feel ya.. Mine was a ton of time too coming up with the original design... Hopefully I'm gonna start laying up the mold of it this week to get it going into production..

You can never have too many gauges. And you can never have to much info about what is going on with your rig. That's my opinion anyway.

heres mine.. no angle correction... i dont drive her oin the street much soo didnt feel that it needed done.. i can see the gauges just fine....i used a trenz billet alumin piece that is designed too bolt on over ur existing dash...

Did that Cavalier wheel bolt right up? That's a good idea.. I'm using a steering wheel cover now but that'd be more comfortable.

Ryoken, definently interested in your dash piece when you go production. :waytogo:

yup, thanks for the enthusiasm guys.. it does motivate me.... got alot on my plate right now, but i'm planning to start the mold this week...

it's my first mold in 15 yrs and i'm going to be employing all the latest tech i can so it should be interesting...

I did the partial gauge conversion. I did a little write up on it, but unfortunately my digi cam was with my mom in Colorado at the time so I didn't get install pics. But I have the after pics.

I was going to use the angle rings on the gauges out on my dash where the AC vent goes, but they stuck out too much and I didn't like them so I took the anlge rings off. So now the gauges look better, but they aren't angled towards me...

If I had more time and $$ to invest I would have redone my whole dash with Auto Meter Carbon fiber gauges and resessed them so they aren't bolted dirrectly to the bezel.

Anyone more creative than me figure out how the guages were mounted to the bezel in post #9? I want to replicate that setup but haven't figured out a good solid, removable way to mount the gauages.

Where those picture where taken from, there was a write-up with other pictures..

iirc correctly, he wasn't happy with the mounting and wanted to redo it... Forget exactly what he did but I think he used wire to retain the gauges up to the tubes...

Plumber's Tape would probably work better than wire.

I've also thought a thin piece of sheet metal, possibly 3 pieces of sheet metal (one for each contour), might work. Cut a hole for each guage and sandwich the guages between the sheet metal & bezel. Should be able to use some or all of the original screw mounts to hold it in place. I'm sure it would take some dremel skills to look good though.:bow::bow::bow::bow:

When I did mine, (see post #18) the Dremel will be your best friend. Rightt next to butloads of time and patients:hack:
