Alright so I have seen people do this but I have looked over and over for this topic and cannot find it. If it is somewhere please show me if not I just need a little help getting this working.
The Truck: 1988 Suburban V20
So awhile back my truck got broken into and someone broke my ignition cylinder to where you can just turn it and it will start the truck without the keys. Well instead of just putting the same thing back into the truck, I took out the old cylinder and am replacing it with a whole new ignition switch with a newer key. Now to the problem. I have 4 posts on the back of my new switch 1: ACC 2: IGN 3: BAT and 4: START. I know the Purple wire is Start but looking at the wiring schematic I see that pink and orange are both ignition along with a brown/white. My question is which one/s do I hook up to the IGN on my new switch? I have found that just solid brown is my ACC so I am good there. Also there are 2 battery wires so which one/s of those do I hook up to my new switch? I have hooked up everything and have gotten my truck to start but the "gauge" fuse keeps blowing and before I did the new switch this wasn't a problem so I have narrowed it down to the fact that I have something wired wrong into my switch. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
