this is more of a rant.. I’m currently stuck at a gas station waiting on a tow truck, again because I’m not getting fuel to the carb. I just replaced the pump a few days ago and only has around 15 miles on it since. I got the “house brand” pump from the parts store and I can’t believe it has already shit out! And the battery is about gone from all the charging issues I had before. Anyone else ever have this problem? It might just be me.. if it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all.

are you sure the line to the pump isn't dry?
I’ll have to look at it when I get it home. It ran fine from the house to the parts store, to get a new heater core and then from the parts store to the gas station and then wouldn’t start. I thought it might be spark but then I noticed there just a tiny amount of fuel in the filter.

Run a 3/8" fuel hose from a gas can to your pump, see what you get. You could have crap in your tank, clogged lines/pickup, collapsed rubber fuel line etc.

Mechanical or elec pump?

My 78.. rusted 1 tank out. Other has so much crud i got 3 filters. Just got a new tank and converting to in tank pump...

As an installer, moog, dorman, and borg Warner have a reputation but most of these new aftermarket parts do ok.

I'm having the same problem with my '78. Ditched the Holley for an Edelbrock. So got a new filter but added a regulator and gauge. Pump went. Replaced pump with house brand too. Lasted one day. Haven't had time, but plan to mess with the fuel line from pump to carb some more since I was forced to replace it due to a flare fitting difference. I may have pinched the new line just enough to stress the pump? Going to run it without the regulator for a while. And will add a filter before the pump. I'm also thinking about ordering a Carter Fuel pump from Summit. Interesting on the rust fuel tank. Maybe a transparent fuel filter before the pump would help with determining the state of our tanks.
