Is there a reason the gauge will not drop below 190*
even after cooling down,it's stuck at 190*
When it gets up to operating temp.,it reads 230*
It freaked me out when I saw that before I realized the gauge was stuck. Is there a way to reset it or something?
Thanks!

mine's doing the exact same thing and it started after i got it hot once. just won't drop back down. so if anyone can help i need to know too

Time for a new QUALITY guage. What brand of guage is it? I wouldn't run anything other than Autometer. If by chance it is an Autometer take it back where ever you bought it and tell them it is broke (stuck). (assuming it is new)

If it doesn't go down to zero with no power, the gauge has a prob...

Autometer makes good stuff.... Some of the marine stuff I see is pretty highend, Faria, Gaffrey, etc, but Autometer makes a pretty quality unit...

that being said, gauges can be finnicky at times... vibration and shock can wreak havoc on electrics.. mechanical are alot more durable..

One of my 2 voltmeters is off by 1 volt right now... annoying.... but replacing it is priority #63...

I bought two Autometer voltgauges (Cobalt fullsweep #6191, 130 Euros each:mad:) and when I started the truck for the first time the one that is getting the charge first was showing only 11 volts. When the other gauge got the charge it showed the 14 volts as it should.

Upon second startup the first gauge vent all the way to the pin and it stays there. I switched gauges between the plugs and now both gauges are broken:crazy:. I dont understand where the problem could be but hoping the warranty will cover it.

The gauges are stuck at 20 volts and the other is at 12 and absolutely no movement.

if you accidently hit 12 volts to the "s" post on a voltmeter, you will fry em, same as a fuel gauge...

On a fuel gauge I understand but on a voltmeter? How can the meter "know" what the voltage is then?

cuz it takes its signal from the ign post... "S" is not used...

hmmm, those gauges just had wires coming out?

all the AM's, pro comps, i've used have 3 male spade terminals, than a black and white wire coming from the light..

either way, that diagram you posted is what i said, ign power, grd, and white is your light.. even more fool-proof than the style i'm talking about... there not even giving you an option to hook to a "s" terminal anymore...

sorry i can't be of more help....

Yes there is only those wires so there is really no possibility to do it wrong.

I just dont understand what is killing them:confused:.
