I am going to be doing a cab swap on my truck in the near future. I'm going to be getting an early 80's cab to be swapping onto my 91 K5 frame. Who's had good luck with an aftermarket harness? I want to get a new one due to the fact that this one is 25 years old and I have no idea how good or bad of shape it is in. I haven't hacked it too much, but if I am going to have to pull this one out I think for my peace of mind I would like to put a new one in.

I know there are companies out there like Painless, American Auto Wire, etc. that offer harnesses for these trucks, but to be honest I am not 100 percent sure of what I am looking at. If anyone here could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it

I used EZ Wiring harness in my truck. Wires are labeled every foot, it comes with the factory style plug for the steering column, and the fuse box bolts right in place of the original.

I did the same... however.. DO NOT BUY THE ALL BLACK KIT LIKE I DID!!!!

Yes says oil sender every 12" but when forum helpers or manuals say.. light green to oil sender... they are all black.. DOH....

Link with picks... not many...

ez wiring uses the stock harness block. I actually cut my wires from the new harness and crimped new connectors on and ran through like OEM... vs just making a hole and running wires...

I vote keeping factory harness. It is actually easier than an aftermarket one.

If it needs reworked box it up send it my way, could have it reworked in about a week.

Wow... that would have been easier! :waytogo::bow:

the nice thing however with a aftermarket harness.. is I went from a truck with no electric fuel pump, no electric choke and a few other things to these dedicated wires built into the harness...

that to me from going from a low circuit count to a 21 was nice itself.

another thing not sure if anyone has said previously on the EZ-Wiring 21 kit...

we always have issues with non bright headlights... after doing the harness swap my headlights are so much brighter that I am no longer contemplating the relay mod... :woot:

I did the relay mod with my harness and I definitely blind people :doah:
