Air Bump stops-Finished

:doah::doah::doah:I kinda thought that was the reply I did not want to hear even thou it most likely is the case. A 6" lift spring would bring those shocks right into there prime BUT I just don't want that much lift(dunes/center of gravity thing)pluss the 1/2 ton running gear would not like bigger tires to fill the hole caused by the lift. Think it's possible or passable to use that last by-pass as a sorta wana-be bump by making it real tight in addition to real bumps:dunno:

If you get the shocks setup to where you are using the full compression of the shock you can get by with using the last two inches of shock where there are no bypass tubes, (I'm assuming that these are setup like that) as the bump. We do this with the front of the race car, use the bypass as the bump stop. It's hard on mounting bolts etc. but we haven't had issues yet. An air bump or other final bump that stops the axle 1/16" from final bottom out is the best but sometimes fitting those isn't easy.

Ok here is my soon to be setup once I get it all installed.

I have custom ORD springs with 12 inches of travel, Bilstein 5125 valved for a F250 with 11 inches of travel. I really want to run air bump stops but not sure if it's overkill as well as a limiting strap. I would like to be able to fully use the springs and shock to the maximum capability.

What do you guys recommend for me?

Air bumps and limit straps are never overkill. They might be unnecessary but not over kill. I would use them if it were me and I could afford them, if I couldn't I would install some sort of poly bump and save some money.

You can tune the last few inches of compression with an air bump and then keep the shock happy on the droop/rebound side with limit straps.

Sounds like a good idea. This is a 2wd to 4wd swap so its all open to mounting dimensions

So the elusive bump stops have evaded me once again. I was saving for a while and had almost all the money i needed to buy them, THEN, Race Desert called and I squandered the money on these. They are 14"X 2.5 Fox triple by-pass with remote resi. Well at least now my rear will match the front and I will start saving for those elusive bumps again.

Price for the kings Chris? I'll trade ya two of my fox 2.5 internal bypasses  lol

I think you got confused the kings I am taking off have NO by-passes. That's why I bought those foxes that DO. I think the shocks you have are way better than what I'm running

Oh I was thinking you had kind external bypasses in the rear. Carry on then lol, my bad

How much travel? I would assume they are around 14? How well did the stock rears do? did it feel funny being the front had much more?

Na I had removed the helper and one of the bigger springs in the rear so it had some fairly good flex. 14'" of travel, maybe? I know I have 8" up until I hit my bump stops and don't know exactly but around 6" of droop.
