Ill start off first by saying, I hate working with electrical stuff but I cannot afford to hire an electrician on this. I am in the process of trying to get an old air compressor up and running. The motor has been rebuilt, and should be good to go. My question is with the motor starter/contact, is there something missing from it?

When I turn the breaker on there is nothing, but as I gently with my foot cause I am a sissy push down on the side contact you can here the motor trying to start. Also not helping the situation, is the fact that all three of the wires coming out of the motor are all the same color so I am unsure if they are correctly wired.:dunno:

Ok, maybe I should have titled this different, but I think I may have found the problem. Blown capacitor, like blown apart. What would cause this, the motor has never been used until now. And it turns out it was wire correctly.......... Atleast on the first attempt at starting. That is the body on the left, and the lid held in the wire cutters on the right.
