i know i'm getting a 60 gallon air compressor with an oiled (not oilless) motor, but i haven't decided which brand i want. i've been looking at craftsman profesional but from the reviews it sounds like they have a problem problems with the motor (anyone use it and have problems?) then i looked at ingersoll-rand and from the reviews they don't look much better

It's hard to beat a Campbell Hausfeld or an Ingersol Rand. Both of those compressors can be had for cheap.

Kert, if you look at the name plate that is a Campbell Hausfeld compressor. I'm guessing you bought it at Home Depot? That's the name on my compressor that i bought there.

If you can spend a little more money, I would get a dual stage compressor with an all cast iron pump cylinder. But if your like me and money needs to last as far as you can stretch it, then I got a used porter cable 60 gallon 5hp oiled compressor for $250. If you look around and watch the auctions or craigslist, you can find a deal if your willing to wait a little while.

motors dont last because people cant focking read... you have to retorque the bolts on the motor after like 80 hours or something...
