Hello all,

I am having some huge a/c problems and need help please. Here is what I've done so far.

1. Removed the seized compressor, installed a new one and put 8oz of oil in it.

2. Replaced the drier.

3. Blown out the condenser.

4. Pulled a vacuum of about 30in for about an hour.

5. Started the truck and turned on the max a/c and my compressor instantly gets hot and makes a weird noise.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? Did I suck the oil out? Hardly anything came out when I hooked the vacuum pump to it.

Please help, thanks.

Well, a couple things...did you flush the system thorouhly? Replace the orofice tube. Usually when a compressor seizes it fills the whole system with crap. When I have a failure, I replace pretty much everything to avoid another failure. Cheaper in the long run. What pressure readings were you getting? Low side? High side. Your system may still have debris in it.

I did replace the orifice tube. I ran the compressor after I installed it and it ran fine. I drove it around for a couple of weeks before I could get back to charging and this is when I discovered the problem.

How much did you run the compressor with no refrigerant? The refrigerant is what moves the oil around. Does the compressor really hold 8oz of oil or did you put some in the receiver? Instantly hot sounds like a blockage somewhere - high pressure refrigerant in the compressor. What else is hot? Is anything cold? What are the pressures?
