I was getting ready to top of my A/C system with some r12. The manafold gagues that I have will not screw onto the low pressure side line. I can screw the high pressure line on to the accumulaotr high pressure port. The end that threads on are all the same size as the accumulator thread on my lines. Does anyone know what the adapter is that I need to adapt down to the very small low side connection?

thanks

it's a GM High Side Adapter....I think it is 1/4 inch

You can find them online....

I can't get R12...didn't know it was still available..I converted mine to 134a and it blows cold...but I always liked R12 better.

R12 is only available to those with a license, and existing supply is legal to use, they just aren't manufacturing more, hence the expense, and why more people are converting to R-134A as supply dwindles and the price continues to go up.

There are some substitutes that are compatible with R-12 systems that are supposedly pretty good. Many of them however are not DOT approved, if that sort of thing is important to you.

Just curious, if there's an adapter on the low side already as to why you can't get the manifold lines screwed on, maybe a previous owner already retrofitted it and changed to r-134? Maybe I'm not reading this right, but to me something doesn't sound right.

If you're using r-12, the manifold set you have should be for r-12 and have the required screw on fittings already, 134-a are those quick snap fittings.

THe system is a r12 system, my gauges are r12 gauges which are all 1/4" connectors. On my truch the high side connection was 3/16" so I had to find the correct adapter....
