I have searched all through and cannot find what I am looking for.

I am eventually going to have to replace my a/c system and with the R134a, I remember reading that the reason it is not as cold after a conversion is due to the size of the condensor. I also remember reading that a larger condensor will help the R134a work more effieciently, thus help cool the truck.

Has anyone found a larger condensor that will work? Any other comments on the a/c system? Trying to dig up all the info I can now, and try to do this next spring. Any parts sources, vendors, etc.??

Thanks.

I just converted my system to R-134a about a week and a half ago. Everything is stock except for the R-134a and oil. I had to replace my compressor and accumulator, but both are rated for both R-134a and the old R-12. After I fixed my temperature control in the dash that was hanging up, I'm consistently getting 44* to 46* on the meat thermometer I have shoved into the dash vent. I honestly can't tell if it's warmer than when I had the R-12 in it or not... We had a couple days last week where it got up to 97* and 99* and it worked fine, the issue I had was all the heat rolling up thru my bare metal floors from the exhaust and drivetrain!!! $39 at lowes for a 4' x 25' roll of aluminized insulation fixed that problem though. I'm just wondering if the extra money for all the upgrades in those other threads are really worth it? Maybe if you live in Phoenix or Vegas...
