Hey guys, A/C (R134) hasnt worked since I have owned the truck (its a 1990 k5). The compressor kicks on but it sounds like marbles. So I'll be replacing it. While the system is opened up is there anything else I should go ahead and replace? Should I leak test it before I swap the compressor or after?

I just tested to see if there was pressure on the system (havent ran it in years) and there seemed to still be some pressure there (heard a hiss).
Where and how much are you getting a new compressor?

Actually I will probably just replace the clutch on the current one otherwise oreilys is right up the road, 160 ish for new compressor.

Compressor, receiver drier, condenser, orifice tube.

If it sounds like marbles its likely junk. A hiss doesn't mean anything If the compressor has failed. I'd only suspect the clutch if it looked burnt up, they typically get covered in a dirty red color.

If the compressor let go, you need to do a flush, the drier, office tube as a minimum. Condensor is just a good habit to ensure no other debris.
