Well, it looks like I am finally going to get to work on a Chevy.
A friend has a 2006 Silverado Z71 package crew cab? The one with the half rear doors.
He hunts on it, and also uses it to haul his camper trailer to my hunting camp.
Unlike my trucks, which I worry about function and don't care all that much about looks, he keeps this thing looking spotless.
Saturday he went with us to build and repair some deer stands. He managed to drive off into a washed out hole in the road and crunched the air dam on the driver's side.
We did not notice it until he pulled up at the dove shoot that afternoon and we saw that the fog/driving light on that side was gone.
We went back to the hole and found it. I was hoping that it had just popped out the bulb, but when we found it, the plastic mounting part was still attached. It had cracked off the dam.
He had to head home, so he threw it in the tool box, and we will work on when he comes back over, probably in a couple of weeks.
I realize that that is one of the first things that gets taken off your trucks, but I was wondering if you had any idea of the best place to find one.
I will hit my local Pick N Pull later this week. Or, it is possible I can re-attach it.
I have a compound called Plas-Ti-Pare that is a solvent with ground up plastic that has worked wonders for me in the past.
If the junkyard does not turn one up, and glue does not work, is there anyone who sells an aftermarket that looks good for a reasonable price?
