I just put a 454 BBC bored & stroked to a 489ci into my K10 w/1 ton drivetrain; but doing the carb adapters, my current 14x6" tall filter will hit the hood and go through by a good 2+". What can I do (cheaply) to resolve this issue? I tried my wife's '69 C10 14x4" filter and it is still above the 'line of sight' of the front fenders. Besides getting a new hood for a few hundred bucks, what can I do to keep my filter below the hood and get the proper performance:dunno:?

have you thought about the AEM Induction Dryflow Synthetic Air Filters? they claim that those filters have better CFM than other brands from the same size.
