I don't have the EGR or the AIR system on my truck anymore. Does the air pump do anything else, or can I go ahead and remove it as well?

The air pump can be removed. Just cap the vacuum line that may go to it. My pump went bad a few years ago and I just ran a shorter belt on the alternator for a while before replacing the pump. I just recently replace the pump again. The bearings seem to wear out. I suspect that washing the engine doesn't help any.

It looked like there were separate belts to both the air pump and alternator... I'll have to look again- just took a quick look earlier.

88 has different belt for alt. You can take the whole pump out as said.

I must be a little slow... OBA? IOW? not familiar with those acronyms...

but that aside, I took it out yesterday. Thanks! Oh, if anyone wants one for free... let me know.

On Board Air, i.e. an engine-driven compressor to run air tools, inflate tires, etc.

In Other Words, I use too many chatcronyms :D

You will be needing to put it back on when smog time rolls around assuming you don't live in one of the few areas that don't require testing in this state.

Nope. I'm in the military, the truck is registered in El Paso County, CO, which doesn't require emissions testing. Which is good, because it would fail many times over...

If you move back to California it will require emissions testing if you don't live in one of the exempted counties within California. This would require you to install ALL of the emissions equipment.
