Airaid Poweraid Quadrajet Carb Spacer

OK, OK - If you are going to put a spacer between the carb and the manifold, do something you will really get a benefit from. Holly sells a heat spacer that really does what it supposed to do. It is composed of a gasket - aluminum spacer - gasket - aluminum spacer - gasket.it is about 1/2 inch thick and insulates the intaKe manifold (160 F) from the carb. If gasoline gets above 100F it starts boiling in the bowl. A miriad of wierd ,strange things occur such as vapor lock ( fuel starving) while cruising, misfiring, surging, etc. Preventing the carb from absorbing heat from the intake manifold effectively allows the carb to meter a uniform dense charge. This produces horsepower and torque.

i also heard wood is a very good spacer/insulator. they actually sell the wood ones at most sites that you can find the metal ones.
