Since I know none of you Alberta guys here on CK5 pay any attention to any other forum but this one or the lounge, I'm gonna post this here!

I want to get out and play again before it gets too bloody cold to get my poor Tahoe started anymore... Trying to get a group assembled to make a run out at Rocky Mountain House in the Prairie Creek area on Oct 29th

Recommended gear:

35"+ tires
Lockers
Winch
Front & rear recovery points
Recovery strap with open loop ends (No metal on the ends!)
Extra fuel
Food & water for 3 days per occupant
Warm winter clothing (Boots, gloves, touque, snow pants and heavy jacket)
CB or VHF radio

Come prepared for cold and snow, the mountains have already got a white cap on them and considering the time of year, it will be far below zero outside. We are probably gonna go for more of a challenging run than an easy scenic run like I did with my Duramax this last spring :haha:. Nothing insane or impossible, but not something you want to attempt in your stock JK.

This isn't a club run so we are not going to be doing any tech inspection. If you feel your rig is capable and you can take care of yourself then you are more than welcome to attend!

They don't care about your truck, per say, but bring some receipts incase they claim you built the truck here in Canada on the way back home. Need proper registration and insurance for any vehicles / trailers involved.

If you buy anything here, make sure you keep your receipts and claim them at the border.

Also, no guns, knifes over 4", other weapons or food can cross the border.

All that said, I don't know if it would be worth the drive for 6hrs of wheeling, haha! If you wanted to come on a real Canadian trip that is several days long, come join us in August for ACE. They let K5s come along on this trip just cause they like a few of us that own them up here, but frown on anything bigger. Truth is, most of the Jeeps have bigger tires than I do anyways, LOL!

So I can't show up to the border like this?

Oh and I normally don't keep receipts for what I've already done to the truck. Would I have a big issue? I can keep receipts for what I buy there though.

I'd take the mini-gun out of the box, but otherwise that is a typical Albertan truck... You'll fit right in, literally won't get a second look from anyone!

The worst the border guards can do is refuse you access to Canada, but I really don't see that being an issue if you are registered, insured, have a proper passport and don't try to cross with anything on the no-no list.

Oh now that's funny. In all seriousness though, the only thing on the no-no list would probably be the axe and the various firearms mounted in/around the truck which I would assuming need to leave at home.

I've always wanted to check out Canada.

Basically, all they are worried about is weapons. If you can classify it as a tool, they will let you cross with it.

That's how I justified carrying a 4" hunting knife in the Tahoe when I went to Moab. I told them it is a survival tool and that I wouldn't go into the wild without it. They shrugged their shoulders and gave it back without saying a word.

Just be upfront with them. Don't try and hide anything in the hopes they won't see it, and absolutely don't lie, haha!

If you wanted to come up for a day trip, we'd be happy to have you along! We will make sure you make it in and out of the wild Canadian Rockies without too much trouble.

Russel - K5 is all good now...... If I leave now from Florida, I should be there by the 29th! :eek1: TH350 makes the trip kinda slow :woot:

That sounds like a good time Russel, I wish I had a rig that is worthy for your trip.:doah:

Is it a day trip thing or are you planing on staying out?

Rocky is only about a hour and a half away from my place, maybe less havent been there in a few years.:dunno:

Sounds like it should be a good run! A bit to far for this saskachewanite to travel to for a day though.
