Many prob have seen my 83 stepside build here years ago where i did the custom front alcan 53's and moved the rear mount back. That was plated and welded in.. The alcans are 7 inch lift springs, i'd like to lower it and use it every day. Since the rear hangers moved back what can i do or what springs can i use without tearing into the frame again...? Where is the center pin located in the 52's..? Can i use those with a zero rate and move the axle. I want the height so i can run 35s with stock fenders.

Most 52s are centered, so that and a zero rate should be ok as long as you shackle angle is ok

Pics of how you modified it would help us judge what would work.

My rear mounts moved back 3 inches to work with my 53s. That why I asked

If I have to leave it this way maybe I can run 37s and stock fenders.

I bet you can put stock 52 springs right on.
They are 26-26 centered pin. Depending on your current center pin location your axle might be too far back after that. Too much for a zero rate.

That's what I was afraid of, with the mount moved back that far. I thought too maybe a boomerang shackle and a zero rate. Not sure how it will work tho.

Dodge trucks used a 52 inch spring that was 24-28 if I remember correctly. The kicker was that the bushing required a 5/8ths bolt...

Not sure of bushing outside diameter so I don't know if they can swap for chevy bushings or if you'll have to drill the spring hanger and shackle to 5/8ths.

But they were 2 1/2" wide rear on old "square" dodges...

@Bent77 knows a website that you could do some searching fairly easily on (and possibly purchase new springs from). I just can't remember what the name of the site is...

Pretty good prices for stock springs...

Thank you i will look into that one, that sounds almost perfect.

I also seen this, i may be able to make 52s work with the b52 brackets and a zero rate.

My alcans also have the center pin moved 1 inch forward from the stock location. Looking i seen 47s stock springs the pins centered, just like the 52. So 23.5 vs 26 is 2.5 inches. I may be able to go to my local spring shop and have the center pin moved to make this work, or a set of dodge rear 52s they will know the bushing size. I will call monday. Another thought would be to redrill the perches and use the zero rate.

A stock set of 52s is 4 inch lift about..?
