So I ordered custom leaf springs from ORD and we went through what I need... anyway. Today I get a ups notification that my, or I think my springs are finally done after 6 weeks as estimated by ORD...

Point of the post, I’ve read really bad reviews about
Alcan Spring, some good while most are negative. Who actually made my springs, ORD or alcan?

Not sure why the letter went to bold but... sorry about that.

Alcan makes them to ORD specs. Not sure who’s been trash mouthing them, they’re usually real upfront and decent

Forum posts.. I’m just nervous because I hope I didn’t screw up explaining to Stephen on the phone what I need. Seems straight forward to him but I like to get myself confused and worried... which I successfully have done.

Hehehehahahrjaha... anway.

I ordered mine directly from alcan when I did my burb. Super happy with them.

And I have yet to hear a bad thing on here about the ones ord specs and has alcan build.
Your good:waytogo:

I don't know what forum you have been on besides here. I doubt that you will find anyone on here that will be dissatisfied with their Alcan built springs, whether ORD they are ORD spec or what the customer asked them to build. That's probably the issue, Alcan builds what the customer asks for, if the customer doesn't ask for the right stuff, they may not get what they like. ORD and Alcan ask questions before finalizing the order.

I have two sets of ORD spec springs. They provide a great ride for me. And they also flex very well offroad. Of course soft leaf springs can let the axle move a little more side to side over some bumps, but they are cheaper than a linked suspension which would control the axle better. Some people want everything perfect without putting out the cash or effort. Can't get Ultra4 performance without spending money. Just my opinion.

1 guy over on 67-72 forum was not happy . We all tried to help pin point the problem but he wouldnt answer the questions weasked 100% and always had a off answer or cant post pics . I think he was the problem not offroad design or alcan .

I googled
“Alcan springs reviews” which resulted in 3 stars... then went down the rabbit hole. It ranges from 5 to 1 star. A few of the 1 star reviews are really recent. I know not everyone can be made happy so I made this thread to see what people say here.

I never heard of alcan springs and didn’t know ORD outsources their spring orders to them. I placed the order with ORD and I guess naively thought they built them.

So I came back here to see what you guys have to say.

I just got my ORD/Alcan springs. I’m sure I’ll be happy with the ride. They sure come beat up though. Not great paint and no protective packaging. As a result, they’ll probably rust faster than necessary. I hate rust, lol.

This is what prompted my search, that and not knowing who or what AlcanSprings is. coupled with my lack of lifted trucks offroad experience and trying to explain what I’m after and Stephen being able to decipher what I said with what I need.

I emailed ORD multiple times over the last few weeks to make sure we’re on the same page and they thankfully they answered all of them. I just don’t want waste anyone’s times ordering incorrectly.

I thought all was good until I got an email from alcan springs with ups info. I never heard of them. So I googled who they are and it made me nervous. The reviews about the owner not being to friendly when mistakes were made whether customer error or them.

One of the problems with internet reviews is that 90% of the time a happy customer tells all their friends and moves on. And pissy devas that want to b1tch about the tiniest BS get on line and tear it down. So for every happy customer 5% do a review, and for every Karen, 75% leave a review.

yep. In addition, I worked with a guy originally from India and he said he had a job back home writing internet reviews for stuff he’d never seen. Got paid for each review he wrote. Generic internet reviews are worse than worthless. Reviews only have value when the people doing them are honest and relatively well informed.

I agree for the most part. There’s also people like me who don’t ever leave reviews one way or the other.

Which is why I came here to ask. I know the people here, we’ll at least your ck5 presence, and trust your opinions on this stuff far more than Julio or Nancy who were pissed about something alcan didnor didn’t do.

With bot review, the negative and positive for that matter reviews are saw were a bit to involved to be bot made from India.

But for someone like me who is realivley new to this 4x4 stuff. When I ordered from ORD I assumed they made them and were not outsourced.

Was that the pissy bitch that went after Stephen over there a few years back? He probably needs an Alcan shoved up his tailpipe

In my friends case, they aren’t bots writing them. They were writing individual reviews for products that someone sent them links to and got paid for each one that varied with some criteria he tried to explain, but it’s been a while.

Only issue I've heard people wonder about is with high lifts, like 6"+.

The leaf springs have more arch in them at rest on the floor than typical ones do.
Due to the fact that they are softer and will lose a lot of that arch when there's weight on them.
So sometimes people have trouble getting them in. Once in and the weight gets on them they will level out where they should be.
Get the front bolt in and you may find you have to comealong the spring back some to get the rear bolt in. Not a big deal, but may turn some people off. :dunno:
