SO i am going to build my own serial cable tomorrow to log some data. Can I just permanently leave it hooked up in my truck? So far the ALDL wires are not hooked up to anything.

Yep I know quite a few people who run a carputer in the dash and have it perma hooked up. That way they can listen to music and open a window to see how the car is running. After a few people and no problems I don't see what the harm would be.
