If I post up a data file, can someone look at it and tell me whats up with my truck? 1988 Chevy Burb w/TBI 350

Symptoms: Runs pretty well cold (low idle, but stays running), but starts dumping fuel and diesels bad once the thermostat opens (seems to happen around 190-200 deg). I'm thinking its the temp sensor, but I've already been on a wild goose chase with the ignition system (recently replaced coil and retimed the engine).

Thanks in advance!

Seems I didnt save the last file. Weather permitting, I'll try to get another one this afternoon. BTW, the speedometer doesnt work, so there wont be any speed data in the file. Just assume RPM ups and downs are a result of shifting.

My neighbor's was doing the same thing, and was getting a temp sensor code.
He replaced the sensor and that helped, but it started doing it again.

He brought it over to my shop and while it was running I jiggled the wires at the temp sensor connector. Doing that caused it to act up.

Turns, out the connector was bad. We spliced on a new one and fixed the issue.
When the temp sensor is not responding to the ECM, it thinks the motor is cold and will dump in more fuel.

I think I've got the data files but it may not be of much good because the truck never stalled out. Little rough on startup but it drove fine around the neighborhood and I left it idling in the drive for awhile. She stabilized at 200 deg and never skipped a beat. No codes (besides the one I knew about already) and eventually I shut it down and saved all the data I could. I'm going to drive it to work tomorrow and see how it does.

Question: can the temp sensor be unplugged to get the truck home if it does crape out? With the recent issues my Monte Carlo had with the MAF sensor whenever it died I'd just unplug the sensor to get the car running again. Can the same be done with my Burbled?

Edit: Burbled? Seriously my Kindle is an idiot. Its supposed to be Burb. As in Suburban. Burbled makes it sound like a fairy mobile..........

Yes you can disconnect the CTS and the engine will run. But the ECM will see this as -40c and add fuel like crazy for choke.

Is the data saved as .xdl from TunerPro RT? I can read them very well to see what going on. Can email it to me at mark at eagle-mark.com

Is the ECM getting it's CTS data from the sensor next to the thermastat?

Its from WinALDL so I don't know what format it is.

And yes the signal is coming from the CTS next to the thermostats. Right smack in the front center of the intake manifold.

Got to move up to modern software and get TunerPro RT. It's free to use with no limitations but we all push that people who use it pay the $39 registration fee so the author keeps interest in updated software!

I can still read the WinALDL log if you'd like to email it to me, I'll take a look for something wrong. But it's limited compared to TunerPro in what I can see and find.
