What are the chances my fuel filters or tank will have stuff in them after sitting for 8 months? Don't know what kind of weather would affect it . . .

Eight months is long enough to get really clogged with something, that's for sure.. could be fungus, could be yeast, whatever..any moisture in the fuel is a breeding ground.
The biobar stuff will work, but whatever you use, be ready to keep changing filters until it's all out of there...it's easy to "kill" the fungus so it quits growing, but the dead remnants still have to be dealt with.

m1008 i picked up a while back sat for years nothing in the fuel at all
If it's put in dry and kept sealed it'll be fine, otherwise...
