ok to all those that have hydro assist. took the truck out this weekend ..works gerat but need to add the assist. i already have the box tapped. my question is this

Do i need a bigger reservoir than what the stock pump has?

Yes

Yes you do need a bigger reservoir. I have the PSC set up and there reservoir is perfect. Not to sure about the cooler I have not needed one yet.

I have a stock cooler on mine and I just strapped a radiator hose on the neck of my ps pump and it works great.

You need more resivoir & a cooler. I run a hydraulic hose on top of the pump w/ another pump resivior top on top of it. used hose clamps to hold it on. I used a cheapo trans cooler for the cooler. Just be sure to mount it lower than the top of the resivoir or it will boil over every time you kill the engine.

Ideally, the cooler should be plumbed into the low pressure return hose before it reaches the pump return.

just tap the box man, but its needs to be a 2wd

secondly can someone show the diagram for this? and i dont do much craling so still need on

wait wait, hold the phone, you get hydro assist from your stock p.s. box?

You use the orbitol valve in the stock power steering box.

i.e. you tap into the stock steering box so that the ram recieves pressure on one side when you want to turn left and so that the ram receives pressure on the other side when you want to turn right.

Your tap into the box to route pressure to the ram. You still need a hydraulic ram, lines, extend the reservoir, cooler, etc.

yeah, you can tap the box and run lines off it. somebody sells an end cap with a fitting in it to replace one of the holes you would have to drill...

i could take pics of mine (i don't have the end cap) but i'm sure by the time i get em up here later tonight someone else will be able to show you.

Here is what the tapped box look's like.

Ditto on that. Tap out the front cap and the top that way the lines are out of the way. I looks clean too.

I'm sure it's been done successfully, but I'd be a little hesitant to tap the factory end cap. The JKW cap isn't very expensive and worth the extra insurance IMO. That's the way I'm going to do it.
