I do alot of driving in my Blazer on road. Shoudl I do All-Terrain or Mud Terrain. I am going to Wheel my rig but not probably not very often.

I know AT's are cheaper too...

Help.

what kind of wheeling. AT's I don't think are very good in mud, but work great in sand.

Mud terrains will out perform the all terrain on everything and will last longer even if solely street driven.

Especially a bfg mud terrain. They last so much longer than other mud terrains

my mud terrains work much better on road and off than my at's did.they usually have a tougher sidewall also from what ive seen.as long as they are rotated every few thousand miles, they will not wear unevenly also.i actually had my mt's last longer than my at's.by at least 10,000 miles iirc.

All terrains are perfectly acceptable until you start taking the harder lines on sharp rocks with low air pressure .

I actually loved my AT's more on wet stuff than I like the muds I scored . Predictable and the sipes stuck to rocks after a good rain .

Now there are some pretty nice tires out there with high void ratio , AND sipes . Which makes sense , people have been siping Mud tires for wheeling for years :D

Yep, I sipe all my mud terrains. Drive them year round on my daily drivers even including northern Michigan winters. They're fine on road and offroad it's nice to always know you have that extra traction.

Nothing like being, "that guy with the AT's on his truck" and having to take easier lines or constantly get towed/winched along the trail because you're trying to wheel with four drag slicks if the going gets tough/gooey.

Yup , completely different trails , I would do the Swamper thing in MI .

Texas has both mud and rocks , so an Extreme AT , or one of those more street friendly MT's like the Grappler or the new BFG would be perfect for a good mix of terrain in a huge state with different wheelin situations .

I am doing the Comp Claw thing myself now ( cheap hand me downs that were part cash part horsetrade ) , soft and flexy aired down . However the selling part for me was repairable sidewalls and retread able bias carcasses ..... I'm gonna be poor for a while .

Is the only downside to the MT (if you can call it that) that they are noisier on the road?

My Discount Tire MT's (don't remember the brand) are pretty loud on the road. I like the off-road performance.

I had a set of BFGoodrich AT's on an old Ford 4x4 and I swear to God those damn things lasted 5 years with a combo of 50/50 on and offroad driving. I didn't do any rock crawling, but just normal trail riding and some LIGHT mud, and lots of sand and I never got a flat.

I swear by BFGoodrich AT's.

My BFG MT are quiet on pavement.

yea, I don't remember yours sounding any louder than mine. Certainly not anything like bogger noise. I originally wanted MTs but traded off performance for what I thought would be more tolerable noise levels.

Love my all terrains from a street point of view. Quieter, cheaper...
Haven't had a chance to do much insane wheeling with them, but my old BFG mud terrains (classic mud terrains - not km2) got slashed sidewalls like they were made of butter and I was driving through fields of glass and broken knives all day...
very angering. Don't trailer my truck so thought, "I'll save a few bucks and try some ATs". Noise reduction is noticable! Never minded the muds before, but wow these are quiet!

I like the Bridgestone Desert Dueler for an AT and have been putting them on the family SUV for some time. However, I love my Goodyear MTR's on the Blazer and have no problems with the handling on-road since I drive pretty far to get to wheeling.

Well in Texas do you guys see much mud. We see enough mud here that I will never put ATs on anything I wheel ever again. They worked great till mud and then you are screwed. Some sort of MT is my vote
