A buddy of mine told if I do buy this '84 Blazer. When the tranny goes out (we all hope it doesnt) that I could put a Allison in it. Is this true? If so what model of it.

Cause he recently got 2 brand new only 100mi trannys off of a 06 Chevy thats had been totaled. An employee had pulled 3 of them out to go on a hauler. He didn't put the e-brake on and one rolled away hit the second one, then hit the first one the one that started it all just had front end damage. The other 2 one went head on with a 18 wheeler the other was flipped in a sludge pond. he got the trannys for 750 each. I kid you not

even if you did figure out the electronics, I would think it would be way to long, making for a very short rear d-shaft.

you are also going to have to do something with your floor or run a body lift. an Allison trans is huge. a new crossmember, driveshafts and exhaust would also be required. mating a transfer case to it is going to require some work unless you run the case that comes with it. but then you will need a driver drop front axle. Get a ford high pinion dana 60.

starting to sound like a lot of work? it is.

Yup same thing I never thought about it being a whole lot longer. Well they were gunna be free. I just hope the tranny doesnt go out. Thanks for all the input
