I would think so, as it bolts up to an 8.1 BBC, and that has the same BBC bolt pattern as the 454's, and a TH400 would bolt up to the 454 and the 6.2. So I would say yes.
And I'm sure it does need a controller.

I've seen older Alisons in school busses,that had 350's or 366/427 BBC motors..so yes,one of those would bolt up--but I dont know how they shift,if they use a modulator or electronic control??..if they used a modulator you could use the vacuum pump and VRV valve like a TH400 on a 6.2 would use..but how to hook it too a transfer case is a good question!..probably have to use a divorced case?..
