Well the Canadian dollar is at par with the USD so now is the time to order new chromoly shafts!

I was thinking Superior but the down time is silly. Though I can apparently get them for nearly the same as a set of Yukons. I thought there was a big price difference?

Yukon is another option as I can get them locally. I haven't heard a lot about their shafts though. Lots about the ujoints not the shafts.

On paper the Alloy USA seem to be an amazing choice. But who carries them? EDIT I'd prefer not to deal with Summit or Jegs...

I currently run Yukon inners and Yukon 35 spline outers with spicer joints and 42inch Iroks... so far they have been great... they are pretty beefy too...

Holy Carp

It's a little difficult to comparison shop seeing as I'm calling places on both sides of the border.

But seeing as the dollar is on par. Not incorporating shipping. I can get a FULL set of Alloy USA WITH ujoints for $200 LESS than Yukons without ujoints here in Canada.

I've got to find a price on the Yukons on your side of the border and then it's time to make a decision!

yeah, Im not 100% sure why the yukons have got so spendy... I bought some 1.5 years ago or so and they were dirt cheap.

With the cost of superiors and joints, i thought that it was better to run birfields?

Dont get the Yukons get the Alloy USA's. Yukon has been having some quality issues lately, trust me I learned the hard way. I bought a complete set for my 10b front (4 shafts total inners & outers) I have since warrantied all 4 shafts. I broke the shortside first (it took 20 minutes:mad: on the first trail). I warrantied it and the replacement has seemed to hold up better but I have not had a chance to long term test it, only a couple trails. I sent the longside shafts in about 3 weeks ago to get warrantied both with twisted splines.

4 Yukon shafts for me = 3 w/twisted splines, 1 snapped stubshaft.

2nd set TBD.

If I hadn't gotten such a good deal from my buddy at a 4x4 shop on the Yukons I wouldn't be upset like I am right now, I would be Pissed.

Check out the Pirate4x4 vendors section. Those guys usually have some pretty good prices on Chromo shafts.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I was on the phone all afternoon. I hate to say it but so far no one can beat Summit's price on USA Alloy. And I just can't see beating a 10 year warranty. Talked to the guys there at Alloy and they were very cool and took a good deal of time with me...actually shooting the **** more about politics then trucks! LOL!

I'll decide in a couple of days I guess. I feel kinda bad I've had a couple of local places price stuff for me and the prices are outrageous! One place wants and extra $500 for Superiors! How can you possibly justify that?! On average the prices here are $200 to $300 over what I'll pay over the phone from the good ol' US of A. Shipping and brokerage will never come close to that!

Longfield's birfield setup is probably the strongest out there but it is also the most expensive.

Longfield makes stupid strong dana 60 joints for relatively cheap too (~$175 a pop, IIRC). With those and a full set of Alloy USA shafts, you are at less than half the cost of the birfield setup.
