This is also why I'll NEVER EVER use Les Schwab for tires again. I've filed an internal claim with them, however if it's not resolved to my liking(fully refinishing my wheels, which were nice before they focked them up, or new wheels), I will be taking to the courts.

The clip ons kept falling off on the highway. I the only off highway use it sees is forest roads. So I went back to have them rebalance with stick on weights on all 4.. and that's when I found the damage that they'd been covering.. and the retards stuck the stickons on the outside

first off as a tire tech for years you must ask for no clipons.

then as a tire tech that cares i would ask if you want clipons before i did the work.

there is about 8-9 diffrent weight clip styles. i dont know how many times i see the wrong ones used on a day to day period. and thay have little fitment cards to help get it correct. but others dont use them.

last WOW :eek1: did thay chew them up big time.

and in my shop unless cust asks we use sticky on the back side and no weights on the front period.

edit more info : yes there is a lip there on the front but its not correct for weight holding 100% so i would have done back side only my self. those dumb a$$e$ need to learn a few things.

that makes me sick to see that my self.

Guess that explains why the wheel weights were falling off..

I go in for pics tomorrow. Owner told me on the phone they probably won't take the claim though since "we can't balance the tires without weights" We'll see if he changes his tune tomorrow.

big b.s on the cant ballence.

you just need to use the correct weights in the correct spots with out the butcher job thay did.

and some of your marks are crab and twist/rip off of old weights that left big gouges.

dont let them get 1 inch on this over you. i have customers with 300k doller race cars that come and ask for me onlt to do there tires and balence jobs. and when others cant get it i fix it and it rides good.

ITS ALL A MATTER OF DO THAY GIVE A $H!T OR NOT ?

There are clip on weights for steel wheels and then there are also clip on weights for alloy wheels and they cannot be mixed up otherwise this is the result. I personally am not a fan of the stick on weights so i always go with clip on weights ON THE INSIDE of the wheel if i can.

If your wheels had nothing wrong with them before you took it in i would make 200% sure they either fix your wheels or pay for another set.

The only thing wrong with my wheels was chips in the clear coat, otherwise they were nice.

Is it me or is that a HELL of a lot of weights on the one side of the wheel?

I know little about balancing, but I have been told that if it needs a ton of weight in one area, you rotate the tire on the rim to move the balance points so you need less overall. Correct?

Just looking for ideas that he can take to the store with him in case that too was done wrong.

Oil change place forgets to put the drain plug in tight or fill the motor up, you can bet they'll be replacing the motor at their cost. If Schwab destroyed your wheels, then I don't see where there is a difference. You can also take it higher up (corporate) if you get no satisfaction from the store owner, which should be the chronological step, taking notes along the way should it come to court.

Lastly, there is always small claims court. Never threaten unless you can follow through, but my understanding of the process is that it is pretty easy, and you can sue for up to $5k. If the damage is due to incompetence, I don't see why you wouldn't have a case...you pay a shop to do a job because they are supposedly "professionals" so something like this shouldn't happen.

yes sometimes spinning the rim to tire will make less or more weight. and a good quality tire will take less weight over a cheep off brand . also the more rubber ( lugs ) the more weight in general.

and yes there is 6-7 diffrent clip on weights for aluminum. and now the stupid manufactors are using steel lips on aluminum wheels so now you can go steel weights to aluminum wheels. and if you dont thay wont fit correctly and fall off.

you have to keep a eye out and make sure you do it right and make sure thay fit.

most of the time heavy weight qty will not make it ride bad. look at the out of round when the tire spins this will be your ride disturbance. thats why when i balence i watch them spin and the weight needed.

That's a bummer. I'd be most upset about the apparent cover-up. Accidents happen, but you gotta own up to them.

315's aren't really THAT large of a tire to balance though are they? It just looks to me like they slapped weights on to save time, not spend time to move the tire around.

Don't know much about Hankooks as to quality.

its definately gonna be hard to refinish your wheels with the rivets there. i also think theyre not removable either. they can either cnc the lip only and send you on your way or actually have a company print something up that says your wheels are non repairable and have them eat a new set of wheels for you. its just a tard that rips off the weights and you can static balance with weights on the inside no problem.
