Alt. troubles

so i went and picked up an alt. today at the pick and pull because mine has been screwy for a year now. Well before i put this new one in i had to remove the 4 screws holding the front face on and rotate it 180*. Once it's installed i start the truck up and theres no charge. Any ideas? it's i very new looking alt i pulled from a 86 lesabre. AC delco 105amp. Any help would be great.

did you seperate the case before rotating it or just rotate it? If you pulled the cases apart very far the brushes probably popped out of the brush holder.

jebsr, you were right, pulled the alt. back out, tore it apart and both brushes were popped out and it broke the brush retaining plastic dealy, swapped the plastic dealy from my old one in, and everything works perfect. Thanks for the help.

yeah, it's nice to not have pulsing headlights anymore, plus it was affecting my injection pump, so the truck runs smoother again. thanks again
