Guys thanks for the input on the rear to front spring notion. I have an 1988( late year prod.) Jimmy with 350 TBI. What series alternator, CS-xxx?, do I have?

Dunno dude, It should be stamped on the front half of the alt. somewhere on top, behind the alt fan.

The 130 or 144 are the diameter of the stator in mm. I think that the cs130 has 3 case bolts (holding both of the case halves together) and the cs144 has 4. I just did a search on google using the # on the case and came up with alot of info. If it is a cs130 get an Iceberg conversion kit for it http://www.alternatorparts.com/iceberg.htm to make it last alot longer.
