Hey everyone, I was wondering what alternator I should get for my k5. I have an aftermarket radio, 7 speakers, and an amp. It's also the Silverado package so electric windows and back glass, It is a 1986 k5 Blazer, and I can't just go to a parts store because I do not live in the US. Any links would be appreciated.

1st thing you should do is add a larger size wire from the batt + on alt to junction block on firewall. You should be able to find 100+ amp cs130 alt in Panama, they came on 1988-1999 trucks. switch the pulley with your alt. you will need to modify the small 2 wire plug to fit or buy/make an adapter(Ac Delco pt2145). You also may need to clock, or change the orientation of the back half to the front half to get the wiring, esp the batt wire to clear the engine and valve cover.

@500$k5 owns an auto electric shop, he built me a nice CS130 with heavy duty bearings, clocked for a gen 1 chevy and make 140 amps. The cs130 charge better at lower rpm than the factory 10si

also the cs144 is another option mid 90's GM vehicles came with them and many were 140 amps.

I have been using this one for close to 20 years or so and zero problems . . . They were cheeper way back then . But looks like they are still going strong .

what brackets are you using for that alt. It does not have the 12 and 6 o'clock mounting

Bolts in to the 90-95 serp belt brackets in place of the cs-130 . Its a modded cs-144 .

Go check there listings they prob have what you want .

the cs144 does come with 12 and 6 mounting. I think it was in some car lines that way.

This is what I got about 6 years ago, and it's still going strong. I have an electric winch, plus a lot of other high draw items and I'm still running the same two batteries that were there when I put the alternator in. I would upgrade your wires as @wesharden recommended, but I can vouch for this alternator, it does get hot, but it never fails to keep everything running and charged.[/url]
