What is the most price effective alternator for a 78 k5 that will fit in without much (if any) brackets that need to be made or modified?

I think the alternator in my truck is being pushed to hard, had electric fan on, headlights on and it was idling at like 12v. The battery was also taking a beating, so i dont want to kill both. I have a mark viii fan so im figuring between that and the lights that the stock alternator just cant take it.

So ive heard of the pontiac van alternator and i thought there was another one that just bolted right in? Im looking for the least headache with this one, probably like 140 amps would be plenty. Oh and id like to keep it fairly cost effective. Whats my best option?

EDIT: this looks like it would work, anyone know anything about them? http://www.ebay.com/itm/140AMP-high...O-10SI-3-WIRE-HOOKUP-ALTERNATOR-/261258101029

Have you looked into powermaster?

They make an "off-road" version that's a direct fit. I think it's 140 amps, probably run about 150 from Summit or similar providers. Unless you're going to go with a used unit and adapt it for your purposes, it's a pretty good blend of power and price.

found a 140 amp one on summit and ordered it. Summit brand but like most things sold under their name, it is probably just a reboxed brand name. It should be here tomorrow.
