Alternator wire question

2003 Tahoe harness. Green 75 pin. Generator Field duty cycle signal is what it's labelled as. Is this needed for fitting in a 1978 Blazer?

anyone know what this connector goes to? It has several pins to it that deal with speed sensoring stuff.
