OK, if I understand what you are saying, you want to bypass a fuse because it keeps blowing.....................

Hopefully I am misunderstanding this, otherwise, make sure you have all your equipment out of the truck and it is parked a long way from your house when you do this.
That way the fire will only destroy the truck and not anything else...........

Fuses blow because there is a short that is drawing more current than is safe for the wire. If you bypass the fuse, the wire will melt and catch fire.

So, you need to fix the short and then the fuse will live long and prosper.

Which fuse is it? You say the charge fuse, is it one in the fuse box or is it a fusible link in the harness?

I think he means rather than try to chase the short he wants to rewire the alternator but not through the factory fuse.

Could be as easy as a dirty or loose ground wire.

I don't have a diagram handy for the civilian charging circuit, but it should be very similar to what I have despite the age difference. The plug I think you are talking about is the circuit you would need to trace. Long story short, It should go to a relay that is switched on/off from the ignition. A chilton manual would have the diagram.

Well, I hope he means something like that, but the problem is the only pink with black strip wires I can find in my schematics, is either coming off the gauge fuse, in the instrument panel, or off the ECM fuse going to the EGR valve and the two injectors.

Neither one goes anywhere close to the alternator. The wires I show coming off the alt are the big red, a brown and a smaller red.

Hopefully when he gets back online, he will have more information.
